Writer identification using hand-printed and non-hand-printed questioned documents.

摘要: Several federal district court judges have recently referred to the purported lack of information on proficiency forensic document examiners (FDEs) in identifying writers hand-printed documents. In order provide necessary information, we re-analyzed data writer identification that were collected 1996 from 90 and 34 laypersons. These used previously assess FDEs using handwritten documents several different types writing. new analysis separated (HP) non-hand-printed (NHP) compiled error rates statistics each category. The main findings are: (1) whether or not hand-printed, performance was much better than laypersons; (2) statistical tests found no difference between provided by HP NHP categories; (3) laypersons (4) differences both categories. Similar results obtained when compared cursive non-cursive All evidence indicates our test one following categories: hand-printed; non-hand-printed; cursive; non-cursive.
