Does dental insurance make a difference in type of service received by Iranian dentate adults

摘要: OBJECTIVES To assess the relationship between insurance status and type of service received among dentate adults in a developing oral health care system. METHODS A cross-sectional survey based on phone interviews Tehran, Iran. Four trained interviewers collected data using structured questionnaire. Of 1,531 subjects answering call, 224 were <18 years; remaining 1,307, 221 (17%) refused to participate, 85 (6%) excluded as edentate or reporting no dental visit, leaving 1,001 eligible sample. The questionnaire covered status, socio-demographics, frequency tooth brushing, attendance reasons for, time since last then. Data analysis included chi-square test logistic regression. RESULTS subjects, 71% had insurance. Those with more likely report extractions (OR=1.5) than those an coverage; for all other treatments differences according appeared. Among insured problem-based visit (OR=6.0) having low level education (OR=2.3). CONCLUSIONS In Iran, its system, only minor impact services reported.
