摘要: Primate sensory systems subserve complex neurocomputational functions. Consequently, these are organised anatomically in a distributed fashion, commonly linking areas to form specialised processing streams. Each stream is related specific function, as evidenced from studies of the visual cortex, which features rather prominent segregation into spatial and non-spatial domains. It has been hypothesised that other systems, including auditory, similar way on cortical level. Recent offer rich qualitative evidence for dual hypothesis. Here we provide new paradigm quantitatively uncover patterns auditory system, based an analysis multiple anatomical using multivariate techniques. As test case, also apply our assessment techniques more ubiquitously-explored system. Importantly, introduced framework opens possibility be applied neural featuring dichotomised organisation, such language or music perception.
