PEG-modified gold nanorods with a stealth character for in vivo applications.

摘要: Gold nanorods prepared in hexadecyltrimethylammonium bromide (CTAB) solution are expected to provide novel materials for photothermal therapy and photo-controlled drug delivery systems. Since gold stabilized with CTAB show strong cytotoxicity, we developed a technique modify these polyethyleneglycol (PEG) medical applications. PEG-modification was achieved by adding mPEG-SH the solution, then, excess removed dialysis. PEG-modified nanoparticles showed nearly neutral surface, had little cytotoxicity vitro. Following intravenous injection into mice, 54% of injected were found blood at 0.5 h after injection, whereas most detected liver case original CTAB.
