摘要: In this study, we investigated the molecular biological and histopathological aspects of etiological mechanisms for pericontusional edema zone (PEZ). The subjects were 5 patients with traumatic brain injury who underwent surgery to evacuate resulting hematoma. average age was 52 ± 27.5 years. GCS at time admission 5–9. At operation apart from evacuating hematoma, PEZ also excised then examined histopathologically. Cerebrospinal fluid (CSF) levels IL6, IL-8, IL-10 measured 24 72 hours. Histological examination revealed large numbers neutrophils accumulating within blood vessels in PEZ, some focal migration. IL-6: CSF 24, 72, hours 550, 4350, 878000 pg/ml, respectively (median values). IL-8: 715, 804, 24900 respectively. IL-10: 15, 4, High IL-6 IL-8 seen an early stage, became markedly higher enlargement PEZ. is thought be due microvascular disturbance by stimulated inflammatory cytokines, neuronal damage migrated neutrophils.
