摘要: This paper illustrates by using a simple coin-tossing example how the new discipline of decision analysis sheds light on perennial problems inference, decision, and experimentation. The inference problem is first discussed from classical viewpoints maximum likelihood estimation hypothesis testing, then viewpoint subjective probability Bayesian updating. next placed in setting to demonstrate an estimate related nature loss structure. Experimental possibilities are evaluated for case where size experiment must be determined priori experimentation can cease at any point. decision-analysis philosophy allows consideration all these within one philosophical methodological framework.
