摘要: Besides infection with drug-resistant parasites, therapeutic failure in leishmaniasis may be caused by altered drug pharmacokinetics, re-infection, and host immunologic compromise. Our aim has been to evaluate if relapses that occur patients suffering from diffuse cutaneous (DCL) associate changes the fitness of infecting organisms. Therefore, isolates DCL, we correlated glucose uptake plasma membrane potential compared results those obtained reference strains. The data demonstrate Leishmania parasites causing DCL incorporate at an efficient rate, albeit without significant as their corresponding isolate did not change its accumulation rate strain expressed a less polarized was insensitive mitochondrial inhibitors, suggesting metabolic dysfunction result glycolysis being main source ATP. constitute proof concept indicates adapted well pressure increased fitness. That is, mexicana amazonensis, isolated patients, strong modification parasite physiology might occur. As consequences, pressure, fitness, they had Further validation concepts herein established whether or third corresponds phenotype need demonstrated genetic level.
