摘要: As professionals of the built environment need to solve more urgent and difficult problems related mitigating adapting climate change, it may be useful examine examples how same have been solved by other living organisms or ecosystems. Looking plants animals that are highly adaptable ones survive in extreme climates through climatic changes provide insights into buildings could should function. Examining qualities ecosystems enable them resilient also offer potential avenues follow. This chapter examines whether biomimicry, where mimicked human design, can an effective means either mitigate causes change is responsible for, adapt impacts change. Different biomimetic approaches design discussed categorised, a series case study illustrate benefits drawbacks each approach. In light conclusions reached during course research, argued mimics utilises synergies between mitigation adaptation strategies relation beneficial long-term response The foundations theory support this presented.
