摘要: Abstract –  Background: Self-inflicted oral injuries of organic origin are particularly common in certain diseases, syndromes, and systemic disorders. In this article, we discuss the characteristics these lesions their treatment. Literature Search: The authors have reviewed most relevant literature relating to self-injury through a search textbooks published articles included Medline database for years 1970–2010, selected cases from last two decades. Results: The majority on is form case reports. Self-injury prevalent patients with Lesch–Nyhan syndrome, heterogeneous group neurological disorders, congenital insensitivity pain anhidrosis, mental retardation. It males early life, sites frequently involved lower lip tongue. Therapeutic approaches psychological pharmacological treatment, intraoral devices, surgical procedures. Clinical Implications:  Intraoral devices best therapeutic option origin, although approach not free complications. The current lack standardized treatment protocols means that therapy must be individualized.
