摘要: Steel accounts for 6% of anthropogenic CO2 emissions, most which arises during steelmaking rather than downstream manufacturing. While improving efficiency in has received a great deal attention, material yield can have substantial impact and comparatively less attention. In this paper, we explore the conditions required manufacturers to switch more materially efficient process, reducing demand steel thus emissions without supply goods consumers. Furthermore, present an alternative processing route where parts be cut flexible arrangements take advantage optimal nesting across multiple part geometries. For first time, determine potential savings that nested blanking could achieve by calculating grouping orders with tolerably similar thickness, strengths, ductility corrosion-resistance. We found 1080 kt 710 worth €430M saved each year if scheme was adopted all European flat steelmills serving automotive sector.
