Euroscepticism at the Supranational Level: The Case of the ‘Untidy Right’ in the European Parliament*

摘要: For the last 20 years, Euroscepticism has become a stable component of European politics and attracted much attention. elections have provided Eurosceptic parties with an opportunity to get parliamentary representation. While there is burgeoning literature on stances these parties, remains relatively little research their strategies once inside Parliament. This article analyzes how MEPs from ‘untidy right’ conceive carry out representative mandate in institution they despise. First, it takes historical perspective show that despite persistence Union's elected chamber, body comparatively limited. Second, examines institutional constraints faced by representatives resulting environment ideological heterogeneity actors. The final part proposes typology roles account for attitudes behaviours chamber.© 2012 Blackwell Publishing Ltd.
