摘要: Publisher Summary This chapter emphasizes that hippocampal sclerosis (HS), which is a selective neuronal loss and gliosis in the CA1 sector subiculum, often observed elderly at post mortem examination. In many patients who present with dementia, HS coexists various other types of pathologies, including Alzheimer's disease (AD), vascular disease, frontotemporal lobar degeneration (FTLD). has also been described as an isolated pathologic explanation for dementia otherwise unremarkable brains. It commonly noted setting amnestic mild cognitive impairment more advanced disorders. The highlights it most coexistent finding both neurodegenerative diseases. Therefore, presence could be regarded sentinel marker underlying neuropathological such as, or neurovascular etiology. concludes relevance coexistence neuropathologic conditions needs to further explored.
