摘要: For applications in Quantum Information and Key Distribution an on-demand source of single photons is desirable because absolute security utmost importance. Photons are quantum systems; hence encoding information onto them offers a secure alternative to classical cryptography as measurement cannot be performed on without altering their properties. The Nitrogen Vacancy (NV) centre diamond good such photons. It photo-stable its location robustness. has zero phonon line at 637 nm relative short luminescence life-time about 12 ns makes it suitable for generating This thesis covers two aspects: Firstly the characterization defects diamonds subsequent selection use photon setup secondly, development experimental generation. sets out describe laboratory based using NV diamond. this purpose suite samples were selected subjected various spectroscopic tests order characterize classify samples, especially presence centres concentrations. was done through following techniques: UltravioletVisible-Near infrared spectroscopy, Infrared Electron Spin Resonance Photoluminescence. These techniques enabled us understand types origins crystal that present used study select most generation confocal microscope arrangement. Single identified by measuring second autocorrelation function fluorescence light emitted sample when illuminated with laser. Hanbury-Brown Twiss (HBT) interferometer.
