摘要: Summary The serum selenium (Se) concentrations of apparently healthy 20–40 year old blood donors from different parts Switzerland were determined by electrothermal atomic absorption spectrometry (GFAAS). Application a rhodium/magnesium matrix-modifier resulted in improved performance comparison with palladium modifier. method was validated hydride ICP-MS and quality-controlled independent analysis using GFAAS as matrix-modifier; no bias detected. Se for male (n = 387) female 243) subjects fell into normal distribution mean values standard deviations 96.0 ± 13.3 μg/L (1.22 0.17 μmol/L) 87.9 14.4 (1.11 0.18 μmol/L), respectively. These corresponded well to the formerly estimated daily intakes. Small but significant differences found between genders, ethnic groups geographic regions, whereas age had influence. overall status Swiss population is assessed adequate, somewhat higher than countries adjacent Switzerland, lower U.S.A. or Finland. There evidence that has changed over past 10 years. However, it appears some may have borderline status.
