摘要: This study reports a prospective observational in which an infection prophylaxis protocol based on the National Kidney Foundation's Disease Outcomes and Quality Initiative (NKF-K/DOQI) guideline 15 describing guidelines for care of tunneled dialysis catheter at time hook-up was used. Catheter-related bacteremia (CRB) incidence data were collected 24-month period compared to retrospectively control immediately preceding 9 months same patient population under conditions except protocol. The CRB fell from average level 6.97 per 1,000 catheter-days during 1.68 period. change statistically significant. Although lowered required 6 reach its maximum, decreased rate sustained. last 18 1.28 catheter-days. Staff compliance with did require repetitive education assessment.
