摘要: To compare changes in health-related quality of life (HRQoL) young (18–25 years) versus older (≥ 26 years) adults up to 5 years after Roux-en-Y gastric bypass (RYGB). Data on Short Form-36 (SF-36) and obesity-related problems scale (OP) at baseline 1, 2, RYGB were extracted from the Scandinavian Obesity Surgery Registry. Within-group effect age group 5-year SF-36 OP analyzed. Effects sizes (ESs) calculated. A total 2542 12,425 included baseline, 138 (20.7% those eligible) 1021 (31.8%) followed-up post-RYGB. At this time, average large improvements (ES ≥ 0.5) observed physical functioning, component score adults, role physical, general health, score, (all, p ≤ 0.001). Both groups displayed negligible weak < 0.5) or no mental HRQoL p < 0.55). Older greater than their counterparts vitality, social p < 0.05). post-RYGB compared while did not improve same extent. Greater HRQoL-improvements could be expected patients why future research should stratify data groups.
