摘要: Background The reasons for gloving-up surgery are to protect the surgical field from microorganisms on surgeon's hands and surgeon patient's microorganisms. This study measured concentration of bacteria passing through glove punctures under conditions. Methods Double-layered gloves were worn during visceral surgeries over a 4-month period. included 128 outer 122 inner 20 septic laparotomies. To measure bacterial passage though punctures, intraoperative swabs made, yielding that compared with retrieved layer using modified Gaschen bag method. Results Depending duration wear, microperforation rate averaged 15%. Approximately 82% perforations went unnoticed by team. Some 86% occurred in nondominant hand, index finger being most frequently punctured location (36%). Bacterial site was detected 4.7% investigated gloves. Conclusion develop microperforations not immediately recognized staff. During surgery, such allow punctures. Possible strategies preventing include strengthening areas prone strict changing every 90 minutes.
