摘要: These studies were conducted on two major postharvest issues of local mango industry. Firstly, more than 90% mangoes are packed in wooden crates, which being eliminated export markets. Secondly, calcium carbide (CaC2) is mostly used for ripening fruit; while, its use discouraged worldwide, due to associated health hazards. To find out some better alternatives, experiments commercial cv. Samar Bahisht Chaunsa. In both experiments, fruits traditional wood packaging with newspaper liner (WP) and corrugated cardboard (CBP) comparison. first experiment, CaC2 (2g kg fruit) was comparison ethylene (C2H4) application (100 ppm, 20°C, 48 h), followed by at ambient conditions (33±1°C & 60-65% RH). CBP fruit showed significantly lower fresh weight loss (FWL) shelf life compared WP treated or without CaC2. had faster rate peel colour development C2H4 CBP. second stored (13±1°C 85-90% RH) 15 days, natural different temperatures (28, 33±1°C). Performance h) 25°C 30°C also evaluated fruit. Regardless methods, reduced FWL WP. treatment higher temperature (30°C) improved quality (total soluble solids sugars) low (25°C), however, the not developed desired level. conclusion, can be substituted demonstrated benefits; further needed develop precise protocol using concentrations regimes, improving under post-storage conditions.
