摘要: Idiopathic pneumonia syndrome (IPS) is a rare complication following stem cell transplant (SCT) and its incidence among pediatric SCT recipients not known. To assess the of IPS, we retrospectively reviewed IPS at our center. defined as presence multilobar infiltrates by chest radiograph or computed tomography scan, need for supplemental oxygenation with declining pulse oximetry no identifiable pulmonary infection. Between July 1999 August 2005, 11 93 children who received fully ablative allogeneic (11.8%) developed IPS. All patients had normal evaluation before transplant. median 17 days (range 8-42 days) after Recipients unrelated donor increased risk developing There was significant association between acute hyperacute graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) (P=0.035). hypoxia five required assisted ventilation. cause death in two patients. Although there complete resolution respiratory symptoms other nine patients, overall transplant-related mortality significantly higher (64 vs 17%, P=0.002). relatively common GVHD an important associated factor.
