摘要: Complementary to recent studies on the cross-section behavior of elliptical hollow sections, investigations into member response have also been performed and described in this paper. The first stage these involved a series precise column buckling tests hot-finished steel sections. In total, 24 flexural about minor major axes were carried out. Specimen sizes lengths carefully chosen order cover wide range both cross section slendernesses. nondimensional slenderness test specimens varied between 0.19 1.58. Measurements taken specimen geometry, global initial geometric imperfections, tensile material properties. Key results from including full load-deformation histories presented discussed. supplemented by 158 numerically generated results, allowing wider geometries be investigated. Design rules for resistance columns proposed verified means reliability analysis. are represent part development comprehensive structural design
