Amateur boxing and risk of chronic traumatic brain injury: systematic review of observational studies

摘要: Objective To evaluate the risk of chronic traumatic brain injury from amateur boxing. Setting Secondary research performed by combination sport physicians and clinical academics. Design, data sources, methods Systematic review observational studies in which was defined as any abnormality on neurological examination, psychometric testing, neuroimaging studies, electroencephalography. Studies were identified through database (1950 to date) bibliographic searches without language restrictions. Two reviewers extracted study characteristics, quality, data, with adherence a protocol developed widely recommended method for systematic (MOOSE). Results 36 papers had relevant extractable (from detailed evaluation 93 943 initial search). Quality evidence generally poor. The best quality those cohort design that used tests. These yielded most negative results: only four 17 (24%) better found indication minority boxers studied. Conclusion There is no strong associate boxing.
