摘要: Background Kolkata is one of the polluted metropolitan cities in India where health effects air pollution are raising serious concern. Objectives Purpose present study was to analyze association between levels pollutants and pulmonary function adult males living two different pollutant zones Kolkata. Methods Air data ambient quality monitoring stations located at Rabindrabharati Victoria Memorial collected from West Bengal Pollution Control Board, for period January March 2012. Study conducted on 200 (17-22 yrs), subdivided into groups within 3 km radius that stations. They were investigated their spirometric lung functions following method technique recommended by American Thoracic Society. Results expressed as mean ± SD independent samples T test compare groups. PM10, SO 2 concentrations significantly higher zone, whereas no significant differences noted NO CO though values than Memorial. FVC, FEV 1 , FEF 25-75% MVV lower zone. Conclusion Exposure high concentration might be associated with reduced males. Kathmandu University Medical Journal Vol.13(1) 2015; 24-28
