摘要: To the Editor.— The QUESTIONS AND ANSWERS section dealing with danger of mammography radiation to high-risk patients (236:2446, 1976) surprisingly omits one important therapeutic alternative: subcutaneous mastectomy. Indeed, woman bilateral chronic cystic mastitis and a strong family history breast carcinoma is an ideal candidate. 1 Longterm experience reveals mastectomy be feasible in at least 80% selected patients. 2 Some advocate this approach as most effective prophylactic procedure patients, 3 say nothing obviating diagnostic hazards.
