Gender Differences in Work Values: Perpetuating the Myth

摘要: Using data obtained from 12 national samples contained in the General Social Survey over period 1973 through 1990, this article analyzes work value preferences of 7,436 full-time male and female workers, representing all major occupational classifications industries. The presented study provide no consistent support for general differences between men's women's values. Instead, suggest that regardless gender, one's preference a given depends, large part, on age, education, prestige. authors argue alleged gender are minimal, at best, continued emphasis merely serves to reinforce traditional gender-role stereotypes perpetuate inequality workplace.
