Photochemical formations of lower aldehydes and lower fatty acids under long-range transport in central Japan

摘要: Abstract Long-range transport (LRT) of photochemical air pollution from the coastal area with large emission sources to inland mountainous region occurs very frequently on clear summer days in central Japan. Photochemical formations lower aldehydes (C1–C3) and fatty acids (C2–C6) were investigated cooperative field observation meteorology chemistry summer, 1983, 1984 1986. Measurements made at 3-h intervals sites along LRT route. Aldehydes produced by oxidation anthropogenic hydrocarbons during LRT. The concentrations increased daytime decreased night. ratios CO acetylene similar that O3. increase aldehyde compared well those calculated a gas-phase model (Chang, 1987, Pr.D. Thesis; Atkinson, 1990, Atmospheric Environment 24A, 1–41). However, model-predicted acetic acid smaller than observed result. prediction was improved addition production mechanism suggested Moortgat et al. (1989, Chem. Phys. Lett. 160, 443–447) Madronich (1990, Geophys. Res. 17, 2361–2364).
