摘要: Malaria in pregnancy is a serious complication associated with parasitized erythrocyte (PE) sequestration the placenta. Recent work suggests that var genes could play an important role PE binding to chondroitin sulfate A (CSA), primary placental adherence receptor. Here, we confirm var2CSA transcriptionally up-regulated CSA-binding parasites and define domains var2CSA. The identification of multiple strengthens evidence for their involvement malaria during may have applications development vaccine against pregnancy.
