Medicinale zuurstof wordt gezien als geneesmiddel dat onbeperkt toegediend kan worden, terwijl er met andere geneesmiddelen juist op toxiciteit en schadelijke effecten gelet. De laatste jaren heeft de kennis omtrent anesthesiologie vlucht genomen, maar nog niet iedereen up-to-date.
