摘要: This study explores to what extent varying levels of host national day participation among immigrants can be explained by previous participatory experiences related their country origin, in addition socio-cultural factors the current residence. Utilising data from a large online immigrant panel, we concentrate on two prominent days Netherlands: Remembrance Day and Liberation Day. On these days, Dutch society commemorates victims Second World War celebrates freedom, respectively. Our results indicate that is determined largely familiarity with commemorating celebrating through holidays specific immigrants’ origin. These findings highlight need place more emphasis role when examining patterns society.
