摘要: Abstract 1. The lizards Amphibolurus ornatus and A. inermis lack a urinary bladder but store urine in an expanded cloaca large intestine (colon). 2. In vitro preparations prepared from this part of the hind gut exhibit transepithelial potential difference (p.d.) 20 to 60 mV (serosa positive) short-circuit current (s.c.c.) 400–500 μA/100 mg tissue. 3. This p.d. s.c.c. was inhibited by amiloride or ouabain suggesting that it substantially reflects active transport sodium mucosa serosa. 4. Neither nor osmotic water transfer increased vasotocin. 5. results are discussed relation normal balance lizards. 6. lizard Trachysaurus rugosus also exhibits .
