摘要: Due to many advantages Caenorhabditis elegans (C. elegans) has become a preferred model of choice in fields, including neurodevelopmental toxicity studies. This review discusses the benefits using C. as an alternative mammalian systems and gives examples uses nematode evaluating effects major known toxins, manganese, mercury, lead, fluoride, arsenic organophosphorus pesticides. Reviewed data indicates numerous similarities with mammals response these toxins. Thus, studies have potential predict possible developmental neurotoxicants higher animals, may be used identify new molecular pathways behind disruptions, well toxicants.
