Evidence for competing order parameters in the paramagnetic phase of layered manganites (invited)

摘要: The magnetic field and temperature dependence of the susceptibility is studied for ferromagnetic layered manganites SrO(La1−xSrxMnO3)2 in composition range x=0.32–0.40. In paramagnetic phase, exhibits an anomalous maximum at intermediate value. size this field-induced enhancement increases dramatically with x from 10% x=0.32 to 160% x=0.40. effect shows a T≈1.1 TC all x. Quantitative analysis terms Landau theory phase transitions enables us identify distortion free energy F that associated anomaly. This corresponds system approaches first order transition as lowered toward TC. Such behavior indicative second, competing parameter, which identified recently observed charge density wave. ...
