摘要: Abstract Budding of enveloped viruses from cellular membranes is believed to depend on the presence transmembrane spike proteins interacting with cytoplasmic virus components. To address mechanism rhabdovirus budding, we generated rabies mutants deficient for glycoprotein G or tail. We found that spikeless particles were released cells infected G-deficient mutant, demonstrating a viral surface protein not required drive budding process. However, particle production enhanced approximately 6-fold and 30-fold in tailless G, respectively. This reveals also possesses an intrinsic independent exocytosis activity. propose model according which efficient rhabdoviruses achieved by concerted action both core proteins.
