Effect of cessation of drug misuse on the immune status of HIV-infected injecting drug users.

摘要: The effects of cessation i.v. drug use on CD4 lymphocyte count and serum levels beta2 -microglobulin (beta2 m) soluble interleukin-2 receptor (sIL-2R) were prospectively investigated in 41 HIV-positive users enrolled a methadone treatment programme. Fifteen matched non-abstainers served as controls. During the follow-up 12 months mean remained unchanged methadone-treated group but fell significantly m sIL-2R values decreased abstainers at beginning rose non-abstaining group. We conclude that illicit abuse HIV-infected injecting may exert beneficial effect immune status.
