摘要: Background Participation in physical activity brings health benefits for adolescents. However, limited data are available on the percentage of U.S. adolescents who engage levels aerobic and muscle-strengthening activities recommended 2008 Physical Activity Guidelines Americans (2008 Guidelines). Purpose To examine prevalence at which aged 12–17 years meet Guidelines, whether demographic BMI variables influence that prevalence. Methods Using from an interviewer-administered self-report questionnaire 1999–2006 National Health Nutrition Examination Survey (analyzed 2011), estimates were made engaged (≥60 minutes activity/day participation ≥3 days/week). Results Among 6547 years, 16.3% (95% CI=14.9%, 17.9%) met both guidelines; 14.7% (13.3%, 16.2%) guideline only, 21.3% (19.4%, 23.3%) 47.8% (45.4%, 50.1%) neither guideline. Adjusted covariates, odds meeting either or only guidelines versus ( p Conclusions Less than 20% reported engaging activities.
