摘要: This chapter reports on an investigation into the ordered, in situ production of “calls for service” public safety communications centers. These centers are responsible dispatching police, fire, and paramedic assistance response to citizen reports, complaints, requests that phoned both 9-1-1 emergency seven digit nonemergency lines. I will be concerned with question how such locally constituted as “calls,” nameable countable organizational events warrant some form official response. The analysis certain computer tools artifacts utilized by center staff enter this a fundamental way, serving “technology order production” (Suchman, press a), embodied courses practical action reasoning involved competent use technology.
