摘要: Abstract Fish farming in reservoirs is a growing aquaculture sector Brazil. This study aimed to characterize Nile tilapia health and production patterns net cages at tropical reservoir Brazil, provide baseline information for future studies policies. The was carried out 2015, the Reservoir of Tres Marias, Minas Gerais, involved all (32) fish farmers most important area reservoir. Tilapia only species commercially farmed sold local slaughterhouses. Aquaculture sole income-generating activity 17% farmers. Only two farms received regular technical assistance. Most cleaned tools, did not share equipment with other appropriately discarded dead or dying ditches. Farmers perceived primary causes mortality be water temperature level (72%), fingerling quality (31%) improper feed management (24%). Farmers’ main concerns were: difficulty getting environmental licenses (59%), high cost animal (34%) low (31%). culture studied an emerging value-chain small-scale farmers, limited technology. Its sustainable development needs consider issues requires better access extension services.
