Frequency and characteristics of induced abortion among married and single women in São Paulo, Brazil

摘要: This article presents the results of a study in city Sao Paulo, Brazil, aimed at estimating frequency induced abortion among women 15 to 49 years age. The objective was characterize occurrence by comparing ideal number children, age, and contraceptive use between married single women. Based on random sampling, 1,749 interviews were held, including 764 women, 658 327 with other marital status. analysis included: mean abortions per woman variance proportions pregnancy, using chi-square test. rate for (45 thousand) did not differ statistically from that However, pregnancy much lower when became pregnant they used more frequently; while fewer than 2% pregnancies ended abortions, exceeded 18%.
