摘要: Abstract Evaluating the potential or actual sustainability of various project options from an Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a long cherished goal. However, goal continues to be somewhat unfulfilled because underlying problem how assess through rational approach rather than subjective judgement. Improvements in approaches evaluate EIAs recently have shown promise. continuing lack fundamental and consistent definition applied evident. Consequently, interpretation EIA tends case-specific, unable comparable other similar projects. Based on Rapid Matrix (RIAM) assessment for municipal solid waste disposal Varanasi, India, paper applies mathematical model determine whether are potentially sustainable unsustainable, if deemed as sustainable, level nature sustainability. The results indicate that out five evaluated, Gasification was most promising option with obtained S-value 0.069, which indicated very weak based obtained, there needs significant improvements environmental social aspects project, turn could lead improvement S-value.
