摘要: The compressive failure of soda-lime glass under uniaxial shock loading has been the subject much recent discussion. Evidence occurring behind a traveling boundary that follows front accumulated and verified in several laboratories. Such called wave. variations material properties across this include complete loss tensile strength, reduction shear lowered acoustic impedance sound speed, opacity to light. It many ways resembles phase boundary. While these observations are generally held be true, there is no universally agreed mechanism for process or processes gives rise failure. object work present results plate impact experiments aim identify by which wave propagates. indicate nucleated at surfaces, deliberately introducing flaws roughening surface speeds fracture leading close front.
