Synthesis of Mg(OH)2, MgO, and Mg nanoparticles using laser ablation of magnesium in water and solvents

摘要: Laser ablation of magnesium in deionized water (DW), solutions DW and sodium dodecyl sulfate (SDS) with different concentrations, acetone 2-propanol has been conducted. The results showed that yielded MgO Mg nanocrystallites as isolated particles agglomerated chains probably intermixed organic residues resulting from the alteration/decomposition solvents under high-energy conditions. Brucite-like Mg(OH)2 were mainly produced by laser either or DW-SDS solutions. Ablation fiber-like shapes having a diameter about 5-10nm length-as long 150 nm. Materials composed various size shape particles. Some had rough surfaces irregular shapes. Small 20-30 nm larger 120 Particles rodlike, triangular, plate-like also observed.
