摘要: Abstract As fresh human cadaveric spine specimens for in vitro testing are hard to obtain and carry a potential risk of infection, the possibility using embalmed has been considered. The cross-linking effect formalin fixation, however, raises uncertainties regarding biomechanical likeness preserved specimens. They have reported be stiffer, but no quantitative data exist. purpose this study was determine differences between formalin-fixed specimens, L1–2 motion segments from six 16-week-old calf spines. range neutral zone were determined flexion-/extension, left/right axial rotation, right/left lateral bending. decreased fixed by as much 80%, 96%. results therefore imply that, testing, not representative vivo conditions.
