Identifying Early School Leaving

摘要: This paper examines some of the major variables associated with early school leaving. Using a matched sample “stayers” and “leavers”, an attempt was made, via multiple discriminant analysis, to identify significant characteristics which distinguish leavers from their peers who remain at school. The results indicated that stayers were markedly similar in terms value orientations personality, but differed significantly educational expectations aspirations, perceived parental job aspirations for them, academic achievement, motivation students' own aspirations. In addition, generally disliked school, found it irrelevant future occupational plans, unable or unwilling cope further schooling.
