摘要: This paper discusses the formation of whiting events, drifting milky clouds water, and their role in recent aragonite sediments a semi-enclosed, karstic, marine lake on island Mljet (Adriatic Sea). study is based detailed structural, morphological sedimentological characterization of, strontium distribution in, particles originating from suspended matter sediments. The were examined by X-ray diffraction electron analyses, scanning transmission microscopy, as well microprobe energy dispersive analyses atomic absorption spectroscopy. Morphological features, granulometric characteristics, enrichment characteristic details structure needle-like identical both collected during events bottom which occasionally occurred surface waters, found to be sites short-term active authigenic precipitation main source fine-grained mud. exemplifies biologically induced inorganic processes mud restricted Mediterranean environment.
