摘要: Abstract To determine whether clozapine, an antipsychotic drug devoid of extrapyramidal side effects, acts preferentially on neurons in the nucleus accumbens rather than neostriatum, analysis clozapine-induced changes spontaneous neuronal activity was performed locally anesthetized, immobilized rats. In both brain sites, intraperitoneal administration clozapine (10, 20 or 80 mg/kg) produced a comparable dose-dependent increase activity. Haloperidol, at dose (2.0mg/kg) that typically elicits effects rats, also increased firing rate neostriatum and accumbens. However, haloperidol greater effect during first 15 min after injection, whereas mg/kg more effective this period contrast, response to lower doses paralleled by neostriatum; no differential regional were recorded any time injection 10 clozapine. The results suggest lack associated with cannot be simply explained selective action
