摘要: A quantitative and precise method for determination of dissolved Mn at the nanomole(nmol)/kg level in seawater has been developed used to study distribution northeast Pacific. concentrations surface mixed layer decrease from 1.0 0.6 nmol/kg between central gyre western boundary California Current, then increase values 2 6 near coastal (in contrast of210Pb). Particulate waters accounts only about 1% total. Vertical distributions are characterized by maxima, minima 300 m, maxima mid-depth coinciding with oxygen minimum labile nutrient Pacific bottom approximately 0.2 nmol/kg. The oceanic appears be dominated external inputs superimposed upon overall scavenging which can lead (1) due riverine atmospheric sources; (2) deep ocean as a result hydrothermal injection and/or sediment resuspension; (3) region resulting in-situ breakdown organic matter, MnO2 reduction, advective-diffusive transport anoxic slope sediments.
