摘要: Abstract Reclaimed water programs treat wastewater to remove hazardous compounds, pathogens, and organic matter provide reclaimed for non-potable applications. Reusing may significantly reduce demands on freshwater resources sustainable management strategies. Though production of is highly regulated, public acceptability has historically hindered the implementation successful systems. The generally opposes use due “yuck factor”, which instinctive disgust associated with idea recycling sewage fear that exposure unsafe. This paper reports results an extensive survey was conducted evaluate potential use. A total 2800 respondents across U.S. participated in survey. Results demonstrate a small percentage population concerned about shortages, majority practices some level conservation, substantial supports water. Climate, demographic variables, financial incentives were tested influence attitudes behaviors regarding water, including awareness, support reuse. Sex, age, last monthly bill, location (as EPA region) showed no significant effect acceptance reuse, while ethnicity, education level, metro/non metro, income effects. Drought conditions do not have statistically number supporters, but increase who are concerned, most active conservers, limit their lawn garden watering. Financial willingness participate reuse programs, decrease bills increased likelihood would program. Support various applications ranked positively, average, except application food crop irrigation at respondents’ own residences. conclusions can insight implementing programs.
