摘要: Abstract There is strong evidence to suggest that foot-and-mouth disease (FMD) can be transmitted by airborne virus up many kilometres from a source. Atmospheric dispersion models are often used predict where this might spread. This study investigated whether FMD (FMDV) aerosol has specific characteristics which need taken into consideration in these models. The and infectiousness of particles emitted 12 pigs have been studied pre- post-infection with O UKG 2001 FMDV. Aerosol generated individual was found log normally distributed the range 0.015–20.0 μm concentrations between 1000 10 000 cm −3 at smallest size above 10 μm. No differences either total number produced or their distribution were detected uninfected infected pigs. However, correlation concentration animal activity more active pig producing significantly greater than those less active. Viable maximum 6.3 TCID 50 /24 h/animal. almost equally across three ranges; 6 μm. could established production activity. In general closely followed detection viraemia blood presence clinical symptoms. one instance excreted as much other animals study, but its blood. results there little merit including sophisticated release pattern based on physical periods FMDV spectrum, together appropriate dry deposition calculations, spread FMD. An estimate daily assessment strain sufficient input.
