摘要: From a general standpoint, the formation of molecular hydrogen can be considered device for disposal electrons released in metabolic oxidations. We presume that this means performing anaerobic oxidations is ancient origin and hydrogen-evolving system strict anaerobes represents primitive form cytochrome oxidase, which aerobes effects terminal step respiration, namely by combination with oxygen. further assume original pattern reactions leading to H(2) production has become modified various ways (with respect both mechanisms functions) during course biochemical evolution, we believe point view suggests profitable approaches clarifying number problems intermediary metabolism microorganisms produce or utilize H(2). Of special importance connection basic problem defining more precisely fundamental elements regulatory control energy metabolism. Among specific aspects awaiting elucidation are: relations between use as primary reductant biosynthetic purposes; forms direct indirect interactions hydrogenase N(2) reduction systems; transitional stages aerobic energy-metabolism patterns facultative organisms.
