Undergraduate interprofessional education using high-fidelity paediatric simulation

摘要: Summary Background:  High-fidelity simulation is becoming increasingly important in the delivery of teaching and learning to health care professionals within a safe environment. Its use an interprofessional context at undergraduate level has potential facilitate good communication teamworking, addition clinical knowledge skills. Methods:  Interprofessional workshops using high-fidelity paediatric were developed delivered medical nursing students Queen’s University Belfast. Learning outcomes common both professions, essential management sick children, included basic competencies, teamworking skills. Quantitative qualitative evaluation was undertaken published questionnaires. Results:  results – 32-item questionnaire analysed for reliability spss. Responses positive groups across four domains acquisition skills, professional identity role awareness, attitudes shared learning. Qualitative thematic content analysis used analyse open-ended responses. Students from commented that education (IPE) approach improved practice-based provided there should be more opportunities. Discussion:  simulation, context, meet requirements curricula. Further research needed into long-term benefits patient care, its generalisability other areas
