摘要: Abstract Topical application of different sulfhydryl (SH) reagents in acetone solution resulted a deterrence the feeding activity Triatoma infestans nymph V. The ED 50 for topical N -ethylmaleimide (NEM), more active compound assayed, was 8.9 μg/insect. This effect showed dose-dependent reversibility. We also observed deterrency when gauze cloth impregnated with NEM located between food source and nymphs. After treatment, mating assessed by counting spermatophores dropped eggs laid. When population adult insects, nymphal stages reared cage containing filter papers treated 0.4 mg/cm 2 NEM, significant decrease density seen after 200 days exposure. Weekly replacement 0.13 period one year enabled control to be maintained. Antifeeding antimating effects resulting could attributed chemoreceptor blockage produced SH reagents.
